Position Purpose
The key focus of this role is to take the reins on a critical, enterprise-scale internal tool used for coaching, performance management, and compliance documentation across the company’s global contact center operations. You'll replace a long-standing developer who is retiring, and you'll inherit a mature but evolving codebase with full knowledge transfer planned.
This is a hands-on, full-stack engineering role with significant influence. You’ll work across architecture, front-end, back-end, DevOps, and Azure infrastructure, with direct input from business stakeholders and product owners. You’ll also eventually mentor junior developers, including a new hire in the Philippines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Application Ownership & Development
Take full ownership of a high-volume, business-critical internal application used daily by agents, supervisors, and managers
Design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable features across a modern Azure-based cloud stack
Ensure system reliability, responsiveness, and performance through clean, maintainable code and thoughtful architecture
Full-Stack Engineering (Core Stack)
Back-end: Azure Functions (C#), Cosmos DB, Azure AD, Key Vaults, SQL Server
Front-end: Vue 3, Vuetify, Pinia, Node.js, NPM, Vite
Infrastructure/DevOps: Azure App Services, App Insights, Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines)
Other tools: Git, RESTful APIs, OpenAI integrations, Azure Log Analytics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with a business-facing product owner to translate ideas into practical, secure solutions
Push back constructively on features that may impact system stability or drift from core business needs
Collaborate with remote team members in the U.S. and the Philippines, contributing to cross-functional projects
Mentorship & Leadership (non-people management)
Provide technical guidance to junior developers, particularly a new cloud engineer joining from the Philippines
Share knowledge and best practices across the team to improve velocity and maintainability
Contribute to system documentation and onboarding materials
What You’ll Need
Must-Have Technical Skills
5+ years of software development experience with a focus on cloud-native applications
Strong command of Azure Functions, C#, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, and Azure AD
Front-end proficiency with Vue 3, Vuetify, Pinia, and modern JS tooling (Node.js, NPM, Vite)
Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, App Insights, and serverless architecture
Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and modern application design
Nice to Have
Experience with OpenAI or AI service integrations
Familiarity with Svelte or other front-end frameworks
Infrastructure-as-Code experience within Azure
Background in BPO, compliance-heavy, or operations-driven environments
Soft Skills & Fit
Able to operate independently and make smart decisions in a lean environment
Excellent communication skills and comfort interfacing with both technical peers and senior stakeholders
Ability to translate vague ideas into clear technical strategies
Skilled in giving and receiving feedback, saying “no” constructively, and managing priorities without losing focus
Team & Reporting Structure
You’ll report to the Director of Software Development, who has been with the company for over 20 years. You’ll work closely with a lead front-end developer and collaborate with additional teams in RPA, internal web services, and automation.
This is a non-management individual contributor role, but you’ll serve as the senior technical anchor for the application and mentor others as the team grows.
Why This Role Stands Out
Own a critical platform used daily by thousands of employees
Be mentored directly by the original developer before he retires — full knowledge transfer, no fire drill
Full-stack scope — front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and DevOps
Autonomy & visibility in a lean, outcome-driven team
Remote flexibility with the option for in-person collaboration if based in Central Illinois
