About the Role

Join an Australia-based technology company building data-driven wagering and gaming platforms for enterprise clients operating in regulated markets. As Senior Financial Controller, you will take end-to-end ownership of the finance function, partnering directly with the CEO to support scale, compliance, and commercial decision-making across a growing global footprint.

This is a hands-on senior role for a commercially astute finance leader who is comfortable operating in high-regulation, transaction-heavy environments. You will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, balancing technical accounting excellence with strategic insight and clear executive communication.

What You’ll Be Driving

Finance Ownership & Control

• End-to-end ownership of financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow

• Monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes aligned to IFRS / Australian Accounting Standards

• General ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial controls

• Oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury activities

Statutory Compliance & Governance

• Management of audits, statutory reporting, and Australian tax obligations (BAS, income tax, FBT, payroll tax)

• Ensuring compliance with Australian regulatory requirements and relevant international obligations

• Liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal partners

• Ongoing development of internal controls and governance frameworks suitable for a scaling technology business

Commercial & Strategic Finance

• Business partnering with the CEO and senior leaders across commercial, product, and technology functions

• Ownership of P&L performance, including complex revenue recognition models

• Financial modelling to support pricing decisions, product initiatives, and market expansion

• Support for board reporting, investor materials, and any future capital or transaction activity

Process Improvement & Scale Readiness

• Streamlining finance processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

• Evaluation and implementation of finance systems, reporting tools, and automation

• Building financial infrastructure to support a transition from early-stage growth to scale

Executive & Stakeholder Communication

• Clear communication of financial performance and insights to executive and board stakeholders

• Translation of complex financial data into practical business insights for non-finance audiences

• Representation of finance in cross-functional planning and strategic discussions

What You Bring

• CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification

• 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including ownership at Financial Controller level or above

• Strong Australian market experience across accounting standards, tax, and regulatory compliance

• Deep technical accounting capability across IFRS, reporting, and financial controls

• Proven experience managing P&Ls, balance sheets, and commercial finance initiatives

• Strong executive-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Background in technology, SaaS, fintech, or wagering / gaming environments

• Hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with comfort operating without a large team

• Philippines-based, with the ability to align working hours to AEST

Nice to Have

• Direct experience in wagering, gaming, or other highly regulated industries

• Big 4 audit or advisory background combined with industry experience

• Exposure to investor reporting, fundraising, or M&A transactions

• Multi-currency and multi-jurisdiction financial management experience

• Prior experience building or strengthening finance functions in startup or scale-up environments

• Previous remote experience supporting an Australian-headquartered business
